Special Features: COOKING

Cooking offers young children an amazing opportunity to incorporate many learning experiences. Children learn math skills needed for measuring, counting and comparing. While mixing, blending, mashing, rolling, and adding ingredients children work on their fine motor skills. The scientific concepts of cause and effect are evident in the cooking process. Children learn about sequencing, as they follow the steps of a recipe. All of the senses are used when cooking; taste, touch, smell, vision and hearing. When participating in this group activity children learn about turn taking, listening to others and creating a single project as a group. Most of all cooking is fun! Children participate in creating their own special snacks. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to try something new. Nothing tastes better than something you have made yourself!
